Media: Britney Spears has been pushing for an end to her custody for years
American pop singer Britney Spears has been trying to amend her custody order for a long time. In particular, she told her lawyer that she did not consider her father suitable for the role of guardian, as he abused alcohol. Reported by The New York Times.
According to the publication, in 2016 Spears told the investigator that she wanted the guardianship to end as soon as possible. According to her, “she is tired of being used,” and said that she earns her own money, but only her environment benefits from this.
As the singer said, the guardianship affected not only financial issues, but also “limited everything, including who she meets and what color of the kitchen cabinet she chooses.”
“She expressed the view that guardianship has become an instrument of suppression and control over her,” the investigator wrote in a 2016 report.
According to 2014 court records, Spears questioned her father's suitability for the role of guardian. Then her lawyer Samuel Ingham said that the artist would like to consider removing him from this post because of drunkenness.
In 2020, Ingham also told a judge that Spears was “afraid of her father,” who remains the steward of her nearly $ 60 million fortune.
Earlier it was reported that on June 23, the singer for the first time will personally testify in a Los Angeles court in the case of custody of her.
