Irish mixed martial artist (MMA) Conor McGregor has confirmed his return to performance. This was reported on TheMacLife's Twitter account.
The 32-year-old has signed a deal with Dustin Poirier at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament. Thus, McGregor officially returned to MMA. The event with the participation of the Irishman will take place on January 23, 2021.
On November 11, UFC President Dana White announced that Poirier had signed his contract for the fight. Then the functionary stressed that the battle would take place “if everything goes according to plan.”
Initially, McGregor and Poirier were preparing to fight outside the UFC. The fighters first agreed on a confrontation within the framework of a charity evening, but a promotion intervened in the situation. McGregor and Poirier have already fought under the auspices of the UFC in 2014. Then the Irishman won by knockout.
In June, McGregor announced his retirement from the sport for the third time in his career. The Irishman became the champion of the UFC in different weight categories.
