The publication “MBH Media”, blocked at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office, announced the termination of work. On the eve of Roskomnadzor restricted access to the websites of Mikhail Khodorkovsky's projects MBH Media, Open Media and Pravozashchita Postcards. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the resources are associated with the organizations Open Russia Civic Movement and Open Russia, which are included in the list of undesirable in Russia. Open Media and Legal Protection of the Postcard have already announced their closure on the morning of 5 August.
“The MBH Media project is shutting down,” says the publication's Telegram channel.
The editor-in-chief of the publication, Veronica Kutsyllo, said on Facebook that over the three and a half years of its operation, MBH Media had already been blocked several times, but then resumed its work. “This time the risks are too great – not only for the journalists who worked on the resource, but also for any people who liked our content and who decided to share it with others … I am not ready to jeopardize the freedom and lives of other people. Mikhail Khodorkovsky too, ”she wrote.
In July, the Ministry of Justice included in the list of foreign agents the editor-in-chief of Open Media, Yulia Yarosh, her deputy, Maxim Glikin, and the publication's correspondent, Ilya Rozhdestvensky. In relation to the publication itself, such a measure was not applied. “Open media” after blocking the site denied the work with unwanted structures. The publication reported that Mikhail Khodorkovsky provided the project with a five-year grant through his company Open press, but “none of the journalists of the project had contracts or unregistered relationships” with his other companies.
Also on August 4, Roskomnadzor blocked the website of the Profession – Journalist Prize, established by Mikhail Khodorkovsky in 2016. When you go to the website of the award, it is reported that access to the resource is limited on the basis of the federal law “On information, information technology and information protection.”
