Brazil signed the Rome Statute, which defines the activities of the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva responded, not as clearly as before, to a question regarding the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the event of his visit to the Group of 20 (G20) summit in Rio de Janeiro at the end of 2024.

This was reported by Radio Liberty with reference to the dpa agency.

During the German-Brazilian government consultations in Berlin, Lula said that they would arrest Putin in Rio de Janeiro through a warrant issued by the International Criminal Court, or it is impossible to say for sure, because this issue is not his area of responsibility, the President of Brazil.

“Will he be arrested when he arrives? Maybe, maybe not. The judiciary will decide that,” Lula said.

Let us add that Brazil signed the Rome Statute, which defines the activities of the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
