Verstappen starts in row one in the sprint at Silverstone
World Championship leader Max Verstappen has secured the fastest time in the Formula 1 final training for the Great Britain Grand Prix. The Red Bull star (1: 29.902 minutes) relegated Charles Leclerc (+0.375 seconds) in the Ferrari to second place on Saturday. Third on the 5.891-kilometer circuit at Silverstone was Leclerc's Spanish stable rival Carlos Sainz (+0.605 seconds). World champion Lewis Hamilton set the eighth fastest time (+1.128 seconds).
Sprint premiere from 5.30 p.m.
The sprint race (Saturday, 5.30 p.m., live on ORF 1 ) will be held for the first time in Silverstone – and there is a lot at stake. The “correct” pole position for the GP at Silverstone is determined in 17 laps. The winner of the test format receives three points in the driver standings, the second two and the third one more point.
