The Center for Counteracting Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council denied reports that Ukrainians were allowed not to pay for utilities, bank loans and mobile phone services during the war with the Russian invaders.
In fact, martial law does not exempt citizens from paying for a communal apartment, but penalties and fines are really not charged.
Also, most Ukrainian banks have initiated a deferral of loan payments until June. But this does not mean that the payment on loans was abolished altogether.
At the same time, mobile operators have significantly increased voice and Internet credit limits and deferred their payment so that no Ukrainian loses access to important information.
SMS messages about threats to turn off mobile communications or accrue fines for loans or utilities due to non-payment were not confirmed. Therefore, the Center for Counteracting Disinformation called for trusting only verified information.
Despite the full-scale war that Russia has unleashed against Ukraine, the domestic banking system remains resilient. Ukrainian banks have a reserve of highly liquid assets in order to provide for all non-cash accounts of Ukrainians and pay off household deposits.
Banks operate as usual in regions where the situation is calm. But there are restrictions in the cities that are now being shelled.
