Marmot Phil predicted late spring
Spring will be late. The famous marmot Phil got scared of his shadow and hid back into the burrow. Groundhog Day is celebrated in the USA and Canada. This tradition is almost 130 years old.
But for the marmots Archie, Sarah and Nagaina from the Moscow zoo on February 2 is not a reason to wake up. It's still too cold for them. They began to prepare for hibernation back in September, they thoroughly insulated their hole. Moscow marmots will wake up only in March.
The squirrel made the forecast in Yekaterinburg. Two plates of nuts were placed in front of the rodent. The animal chose the one where the flag with the inscription “late spring” was hidden.
