NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte harshly criticized Sergei Lavrov, rejecting his predictions about the “collapse” of the Alliance.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has spoken harshly about Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who recently commented on predictions of the “collapse” of the Alliance.
Rutte said this on Fox News.
A few days ago, Lavrov was asked to respond to the words of his Polish colleague Radoslaw Sikorski, who predicted the collapse of the Putin regime due to the modern “arms race”. In response, Lavrov said: “He probably assumes, since he is such a predictor, that the catastrophic, in my opinion, increase in the budget of NATO countries will also lead to the collapse of this organization.”
Commenting on these words, Mark Rutte first noted the “huge foreign policy victory” of the Donald Trump administration in increasing NATO defense spending. Then he added:
“Lavrov – he has been Russia's foreign minister since the birth of Jesus Christ, I think? And nothing useful has come out of his mouth since then. So let's not pay too much attention to Mr. Lavrov,” Rutte said.
Earlier it was reported that the issue of the future of military support for Ukraine from the United States became particularly acute after reports of the suspension of key supplies. Mark Rutte commented on this decision, noting the vital need to extend the supply of American weapons.
