Zakharova wrote that the dog ended up in a shelter after being found under a concrete slab. The Foreign Ministry spokeswoman thanked the three volunteers who rescued the animal and promised to tell the full story later. “In the meantime, let's go home and come up with a name,” she added.
The diplomat's subscribers thanked her for her “kind heart” and congratulated her on finding a new family member. Many of them added photos of their pets to the comments, which were also taken from the shelter or picked up from the street.
On November 12, Zakharova spoke about the death of her dog Nika, whom she took from the shelter in 2007. The dog lived in her family for 14 years, and, according to the owner, she always “gave joy, was kind and delicate and adored children.” “For half a year I understood that it was going to be sunset, but everything suddenly happened. We managed to say goodbye. (…) Today, as my parents told me, she was in tears. Now they are flowing with us, ”wrote the representative of the Foreign Ministry. The commentators expressed condolences to her and advised her to take a new dog, giving her “warmth and home.”
