The famous statue “Manneken Pis” in Brussels for the Day of Russia was dressed in a historical costume of a Russian guardsman.

According to RIA Novosti, earlier the suit was handed over by the Russian Ambassador to Belgium Alexander Tokovinin during a ceremony at the Brussels City Hall.

“This is not the first time the boy has been dressed in a Russian costume, I can remember that he was already dressed in an astronaut's costume. Now I have the honor to hand over a costume based on the uniform of an officer of the Imperial Guard, ”the diplomat said at the ceremony.

The costume will later become part of the permanent exhibition of the Brussels Museum, where the outfits donated to the city for the boy are exhibited.

The Manneken Pis Friends Association proposed wearing a Russian outfit annually on June 12 to celebrate Russia Day.

The match Belgium – Russia will take place on June 12. The meeting will take place in St. Petersburg. The game starts at 22:00 Moscow time.
