Mandatory vaccination was introduced for the elderly in the Ulyanovsk region. The corresponding decree of the chief sanitary doctor of the region is published on the website of Rospotrebnadzor.
According to the document, preventive vaccination against coronavirus for people over 60 years of age should be provided by February 7, the second component – by March 7. It is noted that at least 80 percent of the total number of this category of the population should be vaccinated.
The decree emphasizes that in January, an increase in the incidence of COVID-19 among citizens over 60 was recorded in the Ulyanovsk region. According to the latest data, at the beginning of the year, about 60 percent of infections occurred in this category of the population.
Earlier, State Duma deputy Anatoly Wasserman called voluntary vaccination the gravest part of Gorbachev's legacy and predicted its abolition in Russia in 2022. “I am sure that this year we will abolish one of the most difficult parts of Gorbachev's legacy – the voluntary nature of vaccinations. The perniciousness of this concept is already obvious to the whole world,” the deputy said. He also noted that France is now preparing to pass a law due to which vaccination will become almost mandatory.
