The US capital is introducing mandatory vaccinations for DC officials, Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser wrote on Twitter.
“[Passing] the COVID-19 vaccination will be required of all employees of the DC government who work in structures that report to the mayor,” she said. The head of the city added that they must be vaccinated before September 19 of this year. After the expiration of the allotted period, officials will be obliged to take a PCR test on a weekly basis.
As explained by the NBC television company, which broadcast the mayor's speech, those who have medical contraindications can refuse vaccination. You can also not get vaccinated if religious beliefs do not allow it.
Earlier, Washington State Governor Jay Inslee introduced mandatory COVID-19 vaccination for most government officials and healthcare workers in the public and private sector. The same requirement applies to contractors and volunteers who work with older people. All of them must complete the full course of vaccinations by October 18th.
Reuters, citing a White House spokesman, reported on the plans of the US administration to introduce compulsory vaccination for foreigners entering the country. Now everyone who comes to the United States, regardless of whether they are vaccinated or not, must present a negative test for COVID-19. Entry is prohibited for those who have visited one of the countries at risk.
