“Man is protected for a while”: the professor on vaccination

“A man is protected at least for a while”: a professor on vaccination Vaccination helps to increase the number of antibodies in the body.

The main survival factor in COVID-19 was the level of specific antibodies against the coronavirus spike protein. Doctors from Spain and Canada came to this conclusion.

Until now, it was unclear which of the three factors plays a key role. Scientists have identified three indicators of blood tests: the level of specific antibodies against certain antigens, or parts of the virus; the total number of antigens; and the amount of viral RNA in the blood. If the level of specific antibodies is the key to survival, then how to increase it?

The best way is vaccination, says Konstantin Severinov, head of the laboratory at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and professor at Rutgers University. He told about this on the air of Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda (radiokp.ru).

“Antibodies will arise with vaccination. Then the person is protected from infection at least for some time because antibodies will recognize the infectious agent before it starts the infection, ”he explained.

On the other hand, if the level of antibodies is low and a person is vaccinated, this does not mean that he is not protected.

“The properties of our immunity are that there is an immunological memory. The cells that produce antibodies are located in the bone marrow. They can begin to multiply rapidly and produce antibodies before the infectious agent enters our body, ”said the professor.
