Mick Bourke was 23 years old when he first attended the festival in 1946. For the next 72 years, he regularly came to the event in the village of Lisdunvarna, not missing a single meeting. Two years ago, he had to suspend travel due to deteriorating health.
Festival manager Julie Carr noted that Burke had a good sense of humor and a good disposition, and also danced beautifully. “He never stopped believing that he would someday find love,” Carr stresses.

Over the years, I have had several friends. Many American women were hunting a wealthy farmer. And I had a 200 acre sheep farm. I always said that as soon as I meet the same one, I will stop going to the festival. “
