The mother refused to meet with her son and did not explain the reasons.
A 58-year-old man in the UK who was abandoned by his mother as a baby has found his family. But he is left heartbroken when his 80-year-old mother is unprepared to meet her son.
Dailymail.co.uk writes about this.
Simon Protheroe, 58, was found as a baby outside a toilet at a children's home in Neath, Wales. Until recently, he had no information about why or who abandoned him.
Soon after he was found, he was adopted by loving parents and grew up in a village just ten miles from the orphanage. When he was nine, they told him the details of his adoption. Simon Protheroe says he is very grateful to his adoptive parents for the happy childhood he had.
Simon's wife later advised him to join a TV show that searches for lost relatives. After the woman died of cancer, the man decided to take her advice.
Thanks to DNA analysis, despite the fact that Simon had no documents left, researchers were able to find his biological mother, and Simon finally received information about who his family was and where he came from.
However, emotionally, Simon's biological mother, now in her eighties and who had given birth to him young, unmarried, alone, with no family support, was still not ready to make contact with Simon.
Contrary to Simon's previous assumptions, his birth mother was not from the children's home in Neath but from North Wales. She could not remember why she left her son there.
When Simon's biological mother was contacted, her first reaction was a sad question: “Will I get in trouble for this?” The team assured her that this would not happen. However, she noted that she was still not ready to meet her son.
When the researchers began looking for DNA links, they also tried to find a photograph of Simon to give him the chance to see himself as a baby for the first time. And they did, and the man says it was the first time he saw himself at that age.
He also met his relative, whose name is Noel, and his family. Nothing could be found out about the man's biological father.
Simon believes that he will be able to communicate with his birth mother.
