The largest Swedish bus operator Nobina Sverige has ordered 22 electric city buses.

The German truck and bus manufacturer MAN, which plans to shut down its plant in Steyr, Upper Austria, has started series production of battery-electric city buses in the Polish MAN plant in Starachowice.

MAN intends to hand over the first 17 electric buses to the Hamburg-Holstein transport company (VHH) by the end of the year.

“We are thus expanding our production portfolio and are consistently taking a further step towards sustainable mobility,” said MAN Board Member for Production Michael Kobriger on Thursday. The largest Swedish bus operator Nobina Sverige in Malmö has ordered 22 e-city buses, and there are other orders.

The fully electric Lion's City E should go into production as an articulated bus before July 2021. The e-buses would be built flexibly with the conventional models on one line, announced the truck and bus manufacturer belonging to the VW Group. In Starachowice, MAN built more than 2,300 buses last year.
