Sergey Kharitonov
Russian mixed style (MMA) fighter Adam Yandiev, who beat heavyweight Sergei Kharitonov, may face a sentence of up to seven years in prison. This was stated by Igor Bushmanov, the lawyer of footballer Pavel Mamaev, reports Sport.24.
According to the lawyer, if it is proved that brass knuckles were really used as a weapon, then the qualification could be up to hooliganism (Article 213 of the Criminal Code of Russia). However, this article is supported by the fact that the incident took place in a public place, and public order was violated by the actions of both parties, the lawyer explained.
In addition, Bushmanov added that the article “Hooliganism” does not include harm to health, therefore, another article will be applied, for example, harm to health of moderate severity (Article 112 of the Criminal Code of Russia).
Earlier, Yandiyev was charged with causing minor harm to health. He is in IVS-1. The capital's Public Monitoring Commission reported that the fighter has no cellmates, he does not complain about the conditions.
The fight between the fighters took place on November 13. The attacker struck Kharitonov several times with brass knuckles, after which the fighter was hospitalized. Yandiyev was detained for 48 hours and sent to a pre-trial detention center. Two criminal cases were initiated against him.
According to Kharitonov, the cause of the fight was money debt. Initially, he said that Yandiev had borrowed about a million rubles from him and refused to return it. At the same time, the bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in judo Dmitry Nosov denied Kharitonov's version that Yandiev owed him money.
