Nicholas Maduro
Relatives of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro will volunteer to test the Russian vaccine against coronavirus Sputnik V. This was announced by the head of the Bolivarian Republic himself, TASS reports.
“My son Nicholas Maduro Guerra told me that he decided to supply the Russian vaccine, to take part in trials. I think this is great. Elder sister Maria Teresa Maduro will also take part and supply the Russian vaccine, ”he said.
Maduro also wished US President Donald Trump well. “We don't want anyone to get sick. And we express our human solidarity to the President of the United States, the merciless enemy of Venezuela. I hope this will all make him more thoughtful and humane, ”he said, suggesting that Trump was infected because he underestimated precautions and did not wear a protective mask.
The first batch of the Russian coronavirus vaccine arrived in Venezuela on Friday, October 2.
Earlier, Venezuelan Vice President Dalsi Rodriguez said that the country will begin production of Sputnik V on its territory. The head of the Ministry of Health, Carlos Alvarado, added that the mass production of the vaccine in the country will begin after the third phase of the drug trial is completed in Russia.
Sputnik V is the first Russian vaccine against coronavirus, launched on 15 August. Citizens from the risk group and doctors will be the first to be vaccinated; mass vaccination of Russians will begin in 2021. According to Murashko, as part of post-registration studies, more than 5.5 thousand people were vaccinated with a domestic drug in Moscow clinics.
