Russia's military operation to protect the Donbass will last a long time and will have long-term consequences for Europe. This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron, TASS reports.

According to him, the crisis associated with hostilities will seriously affect all European states. He urged them to prepare for new sanctions against Moscow and “continue the fight” to protect the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

“War has returned to Europe. This war was the unilateral choice of Russian President Vladimir Putin,” Macron said.

Earlier it became known that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky invited the United States and European countries to form an “anti-war coalition”. He clarified that Kyiv, first of all, “defends its freedom”, but needs international assistance.

On Thursday, February 24, Russia launched a military operation to protect Donbass. This happened after the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics addressed Moscow with a corresponding request.
