The French President will visit Poland on December 12.
French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Poland, where he will discuss the plan for a European peacekeeping mission to preserve Ukraine's sovereignty.
This was reported by Rzeczpospolita.
Macron, who, according to the publication, leaves the country only under exceptional circumstances, will go to Warsaw.
“However, there is another political calendar that does not tolerate delays. We are talking about the inauguration of Donald Trump as President of the United States,” the publication says.
According to media reports, Macron could have told Trump during his conversation that Europe cannot remain on the sidelines of negotiations between the United States and Russia.
Macron could raise the issue of a peacekeeping mission that would guarantee that Moscow will not raise a possible future ceasefire and the established demarcation line. Therefore, Poland, with its rapidly growing military potential and geographical location, becomes an important part of such a plan.
Rzeczpospolita notes: the more countries participate in such a peacekeeping mission, the greater the chance that Russia will not dare to strike Ukraine again.
Recall that the day before, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that peace talks on the war in Ukraine could begin this winter. He also outlined a number of planned meetings that will take place in the near future.
