The French President publicly criticized Putin and said that he is not ready for peace.
French President Emmanuel Macron believes that the Kremlin dictator intends to continue the war in Ukraine. This is evidenced by his refusal of France's proposal to cease fire during the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
Macron stated this in an interview with CNBC.
According to the French president, Putin’s position is proof that he is not ready for peaceful dialogue.
“This is an important point to understand, because until now President Putin has declared weekly that he is open to the world,” Macron emphasized.
The French leader noted that Putin received a specific proposal for peace, but immediately rejected it.
“So, it is clear to everyone in the world that it was he who decided to start a war, and he is not ready for peace,” Macron said.
Macron, who advocates a truce, sees the Olympic Games as an opportunity to achieve peace and increase pressure on the parties to the conflict. He also sees the event as a chance to strengthen ties with China and work together towards peace.
Recall that French President Emmanuel Macron said that he would demand that Russia cease fire in Ukraine during the Olympic Games. When and under what conditions this will happen, Macron did not specify.
