Emmanuel Macron
French President Emmanuel Macron explained the need for vaccination certificates against coronavirus in the European Union. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
Macron noted that there are countries in the European Union (EU) that are very dependent on tourism, so such countries would like to find a solution that would allow them to book summer vacations when the situation improves. He stressed that he respects this aspiration, however, in his opinion, coordination within the EU on the issue of vaccination certificates is necessary.
The French leader said that since the organization with certificates will begin to be used only in the summer, it is now important for the EU countries to study the most innovative examples of similar steps in other countries and develop common standards.
The head of the Council of Europe Charles Michel, in turn, said that, despite the serious progress on the issue of vaccination certificates, there are still many unresolved aspects of this problem. So, Michelle noted that the EU countries have not yet agreed on for what purposes they will be used. She also added that not only information about vaccination, but also about the latest tests for coronavirus can be entered into this document.
Earlier, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the leaders of the EU countries had agreed on the need to introduce vaccination certificates. According to Merkel, we are talking about electronic certificates that will be ready within three months. She stressed that the certificates can become the basis for travel within the EU, as well as for entry into its territory from third countries.
