Macron accused Russia of aggression against all of Europe and beyond

The French President assured that his government is determined “to ensure that Russia loses this aggressive war.”

French President Emmanuel Macron believes that Russia has launched an aggression against all European democracies and said that he himself became its victim.

He spoke about this at a joint press conference with the President of Ukraine on Friday, February 16, in Paris.

The French leader accused Russia of violating all its previous commitments, starting from those taken in Almaty in 1991 (meaning the Alma-Ata Declaration of December 21, 1991, confirming the demise of the USSR).

“This is a direct threat to the entire Central Asia and the Caucasus. Everyone today has the right to ask what new truncated and falsified piece of history Russia will return to to justify its further aggression, and what new country will become its victim,” Macron said, referring to Putin’s “historical” justification for his aggression against Ukraine.

He also emphasized that Russia is already committing direct aggression against European countries.

“Russia is increasingly openly declaring its desire to interfere in our elections. And I myself have become a victim of direct attacks and even had certain explanations for these attacks from Vladimir Putin. All these maneuvers, disinformation, destabilization, accumulating throughout directions of cyber attacks are becoming more systematic, they claim that Russia has already crossed the border with respect to all European democracies, especially in recent weeks and months. And that is why with Germany and Poland we have already openly announced these attacks and we consider this as an aggression against us,” — Emmanuel Macron noted.

The French President assured that his government is determined “to ensure that Russia loses this war of aggression.”

“If Russia expects us to get tired, it is mistaken… France is ready for long-term, long-term support for Ukraine,” the French leader concluded.

Recall that on February 16, President Vladimir Zelensky and French leader Emmanuel Macron signed a bilateral agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine.
