The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has refused to recognize the powers of the President of the Belarusian Olympic Committee, Viktor Lukashenko. This is reported by TASS.
The IOC called it a “temporary interim measure.” Thus, the IOC did not recognize the results of the elections for the post of head of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus, which took place on February 26. The son of the current president of the country, Alexander Lukashenko, was elected during the Olympic meeting. Viktor Lukashenko replaced his father in this post; he has been the head of the NOC since 1997.
