According to Alesin, Lukashenko is preparing for the fact that his powers will someday end.
Alexander Lukashenko may leave post of President Belarus and is preparing a new place for himself.
Belarusian military analyst Alexander Alesin reported this on the air of the Kyiv 24 TV channel.
“When it turned out that not everyone in the presidential hierarchy was loyal to the current president and even in the ranks of the security forces, betrayal began to seep in. Therefore, in order to consolidate their powers not only for the duration of their cadence, but also to maintain control over the state and after the termination of powers, Alexander Lukashenko, it seems to me, proposed this formula, as they say, for popular representation: the All-Belarusian People's Assembly, which has the right to impeach the president, which decides questions about the directions of development of the state and, in fact, it “is a body that is above the president. And being as a delegate in the All-Belarusian People's Assembly, Alexander Lukashenko practically retains control over the political life of Belarus until the end of his days. Moreover, he retains complete immunity and state support,” he noted.
Therefore, according to Alesin, Lukashenko is still preparing for the fact that his powers will someday end.
“And in order to ensure a way out and subsequent existence, he is undertaking such a political reform, which consists of a new law on the All-Belarusian People's Assembly. That is, Lukashenko is thinking about ending his powers. I think that if Putin wins the next elections, then of course he will pull Lukashenko with him. They will stay together for another term, but then events will develop according to an unpredictable scenario,” the military analyst concluded.
Recall that the self-proclaimed Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko signed the law on lifetime guarantees: he forbade judging himself after his resignation.
