Lukashenko may receive an arrest warrant after Putin – Podolyak

Podolyak says that this is a political fixation of Lukashenko’s status.

The European Parliament recognized the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is on par with the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin involved in the war against Ukraine. Now there has been a call in the EU to find legal ways to seize the assets of the Belarusian leadership and transfer them to the restoration of Ukraine and issue the same international warrant to Lukashenko as to Putin.

About this saidAdviser of the Presidential Office Mikhail Podolyak in an interview with Channel 24.

Podolyak notes that these are very important decisions of the European Parliament.

“This is a political fixation of Lukashenko’s status. We remember that before the 2020 elections, certain political institutions, in particular European ones, flirted with Lukashenko, giving him the opportunity to feel like a person sitting on two chairs, taking something from Russia, negotiating something with Europe, and the like,” the adviser emphasized OP.

However, there are no legal decisions about this yet.

“And the political one is extremely important, because it shows that Lukashenko is tightly tied to Putin and the genocidal type of war. And in spite of everything, Lukashenko will also be responsible for everything, what Russia is doing in Ukraine today,” says Podolyak.

He continues that it is now necessary to observe whether there will be any legal fixation of this decision for Belarus from the point of view, for example, of the ISS order.

“First, they have a certain political consensus. We see it today. After that, they begin discussions at different levels on how to now implement this political consensus in legal specific actions. After this, several packages will be developed – tougher, more radical, less tough and the like,” Podolyak summed up.
