Lukashenko made loud statements ahead of presidential elections in Belarus

The Belarusian dictator has authorized the use of the army to restore order.

Self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has stated that the presidential elections scheduled for January 26 should be a “celebration.” At the same time, he criticized the elections in the United States, calling the assassination attempt on Donald Trump an “American show.”

He spoke about this at a meeting with the chairmen of regional executive committees and the Minsk City Executive Committee, the state news agency BelTA reports.

“The elections should be made like a holiday. We don't need an American show, where they shoot in the ear or in the head, so that these elections are held with dignity and we don't expose ourselves to unnecessary criticism,” Lukashenko said.

He recalled that the election campaign began on January 1 and emphasized that this is “a difficult time.” According to the Belarusian dictator, “the election legislation must not be violated under any circumstances,” because otherwise “all sorts of nastiness from abroad” will be poured on the Belarusian authorities.

At a meeting with governors, Lukashenko allowed the use of military force in the elections.

“Where necessary, the police, where necessary, the military, boldly involve. So that there is order,” he addressed the heads of regions, calling on them to “help” the election commissions at the polling stations.

Five candidates are participating in the presidential elections in Belarus. Lukashenko, who has held the post of head of state since 1994, is seeking a seventh presidential term.

Earlier sources of the publication “Nasha Niva” said that before Lukashenko's re-election for another presidential term, security forces were tasked with “filtering” everyone who might protest before the elections or during the voting. According to them, the regions compiled lists of those who are subject to “preventive searches and detention.”

Security forces were tasked with ensuring that the elections were held “without the slightest incident” with protest leaflets, demands for transparent vote counting, or public statements against Lukashenko's candidacy.

Recall that earlier, self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that he was against the election of a woman to the post of head of state.
