To solve the demographic problem, the population of Belarus must be doubled to 20 million, said Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

“The biggest problem in the country is demographic … It will be a disaster if we do not add to the population … What is 9.5 or 10 million? This is nothing. At the first stage, we have 15 million, and reach 20 million. Then we will be like Europe in terms of population density, ”TASS quotes him.

The Belarusian leader added that the state does not plan to cut support for families with children.

In November, Lukashenka said that Belarusian doctors who had left to work in Poland and Western countries would not be able to return to the republic to continue working at home.
