Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics stated that the self-proclaimed Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko does not influence anything in the war in Ukraine.
He added that Russia and Belarus in the context of the war in Ukraine at the NATO summit were considered as “one” .
Rinkevics said this in a commentary to Zerkalo.io, European Pravda reports.
“To be honest, we believe that we should consider Belarus as a military district of the Russian Federation with the beginning of Russia's military aggression against Ukraine. We do not believe that Lukashenko controls the situation and can somehow influence it. When the NATO summit decisions were made to strengthen the eastern flank, Belarus and Russia militarily and points of view were considered as a whole. Therefore, we must strengthen and expand the presence of our allies on the territory of Poland and Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia,” Rinkevics said.
Russian publicist and sociologist Igor Eidman believes that Putin has two options left, both leading to its collapse.
