US President Donald Trump is starting his second term with one of the lowest approval ratings in decades.
This is according to a study conducted by the Gallup polling company.

A poll released Thursday found that 47% of respondents still support Trump, slightly higher than the 45% he earned over the same period during his first term. However, this rating puts him below all other elected presidents since 1953.

He remains the only head of the White House with an approval rating below 50%, according to the poll.
In parallel, Trump's disapproval rating is 48%, which is 3 points higher than in 2017 and a new high for this rating at the beginning of the presidential term.
Notably, former US President Joe Biden had 57% approval, as did former President George W. Bush.
The next presidents to receive the lowest approval rating after Trump were former Presidents Reagan and George W. Bush. Bush Jr.
The president who received the highest approval rating upon taking office was former President Kennedy.
Gallup noted that Trump's current approval rating is statistically indistinguishable from his past ratings.
— However, Trump's initial assessments differ in that Americans are far more likely to disapprove of his performance than to have no opinion, as was the case with the elder Bush and Reagan, — the poll says.
Gallup points out that 47% of people who support Trump is a better indicator than the average rating during the Republican's first term, when he had 41% approval from Americans.
At the same time, Trump is the only president who during his time in office has not received a job rating of 50% or higher.
It is noted that the sociological survey was conducted from January 21-27 among 1,001 adult respondents and has an error margin of 4 percentage points.
