Biden said that his team is leaving behind the strongest economy in the world.

Current US President Joe Biden addressed the Americans on Thursday, November 7. This is his first public appearance since Donald Trump's victory in the election was announced.

ТСН.ua has collected the main points of the speech.

“We all get knocked down, but the measure of our character, as my dad would say, is how quickly we bounce back,” he said in his first public appearance since Trump's victory was announced.

“Remember, defeat does not mean we are defeated. We have lost this battle. The America of your dreams is calling you to rise. The American spirit will endure,” Biden said.

Peaceful transfer of power

Biden said he had ordered his administration to work with Trump's team to ensure a peaceful transition of power, in what the AP said was a subtle reference to Trump's refusal to concede defeat in 2020.

“I spoke with President-elect Trump yesterday to congratulate him on his victory, and I assured him that I will have my entire administration working with his team to ensure a peaceful and orderly transition. That is what the American people deserve,” he said. .

Biden also noted the fairness of the elections, calling them free and transparent.

“The will of the people always wins,” said the current head of the White House.

Biden on Harris

Biden praised Vice President Kamala Harris for her “true character” after her election defeat.

He assured that he does not regret inviting Harris as his candidate for vice president from the Democratic Party in the 2020 elections. It was the first and “best decision” he made in this campaign.

“Her story is the best story in American history. I have no doubt that she will continue to write that story. She was a partner and a public servant. She ran an inspiring campaign, and everyone saw what I admired so early in her character. She has a strong core. She has a strong character, that's true. She gave it her all. She and her entire team should be proud of the campaign they ran,” Biden said.

There was no mention of Trump in his statement. Biden also called his presidency historic.

“A lot of the work we've done is already being felt by the American people,” he said, adding that the vast majority will experience this impact over the next 10 years. Biden added that his team is leaving behind the strongest economy in the world.
