Rescue work continues in Turkey after a devastating earthquake.
In Turkey, there may be five citizens of Ukraine. Ukrainian consuls went to the disaster zone to help Ukrainians.
This was announced by the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko.
According to him, diplomats are bringing warm clothes and essentials to Turkey and medicines.
“On the spot, they will coordinate the search for missing citizens, the provision of medical assistance to the victims and the organization of evacuation. We have information about the likely stay of five Ukrainians under the rubble. The Foreign Ministry and the embassy are actively cooperating with the Turkish authorities to save them. One citizen was hospitalized. There are no threats to her life,” Nikolenko said.
He also said that diplomats had already tracked down 103 Ukrainians. Another 22 citizens do not get in touch.
Large-scale earthquake in Turkey and Syria
Recall that on February 6, a large-scale earthquake occurred in Turkey and Syria. The total number of victims is more than 40 thousand people, thousands of buildings were destroyed, under the rubble of which people are still trapped. The total number of deaths has risen to 16 thousand people.
The Turkish authorities have declared a state of emergency in 10 provinces affected by earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6. The epicenter of the disaster was in the Pazardzhik region of Kahramanmarash province.
