The chief profilactologist of the Ural Federal District, pediatrician, doctor of medical sciences Sergey Tokarev said that one of the symptoms of the omicron strain of coronavirus persists in those who have been ill for a long time. He spoke about him in an interview with URA.RU.

Tokarev said that myalgia, or muscle pain, persists in those who have undergone the omicron strain of COVID-19 for up to a year. He called this symptom not only a sign of coronavirus, but also post-coid syndrome.

“Postmoid syndrome can include myalgia, muscle weakness, fatigue and asthenia, insomnia, memory and attention disorders, distortions of taste and smell, and these complaints persist for a long time – from several weeks to a year,” the doctor said.

Pavel Vorobyov, chairman of the board of the Moscow City Scientific Society of Physicians, confirmed that muscle pains may persist in those who have had the omicron. He recalled that myalgia is observed in all variants of the coronavirus.

“It usually goes away with the illness. But myalgia can also be present in postcoid syndrome, ”Vorobyov emphasized.

Earlier, immunologist, candidate of medical sciences Nikolai Kryuchkov named a group of people with the mildest course of the omicron strain. To her, he included young people without chronic diseases.
