London has expressed its readiness to send more British troops to NATO to deter Russia. This was stated by British Defense Minister Ben Wallace, BBC reports.
After meeting with the head of the alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, Wallace said that the UK could “increase forces on land, sea and in the air to convince that it supports NATO members in deterring any further Russian aggression.”
The head of the Defense Ministry also noted that he does not exclude the supply of additional weapons to Ukraine. Over the past week, the UK has supplied Ukraine with two thousand units of light anti-tank weapons and military personnel for their training.
Earlier, British instructors began training soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the use of anti-tank missile systems (ATGMS) of the Next Generation Light Anti-tank Weapon (NLAW) system. Trainings are held in the Lviv region at the 184th training center of the Academy. Ukrainians are trained to work with ATGMs as part of the UK Orbital military mission.
Recently, in addition to NLAW complexes, the Ukrainian army has been armed with American FGM-148 Javelin ATGMs. Their launchers, unlike the first ones, allow for the possibility of recharging. According to various estimates, over the past few months, the UK has supplied Ukraine with several hundred anti-tank installations.
