Joe Biden in this context recalled the Russian aggression of 2014.
US President Joe Biden said that Russia will pay a high price for aggression against Ukraine, even if it is not accompanied by open military action.
The American leader made such a statement at a meeting with members of the Task Force on Infrastructure Implementation in the United States on Thursday, January 20.
“Russia has extensive experience in using measures for aggression, except for open hostilities: attacks by armed formations, so-called attacks in gray zones, actions of Russian soldiers without Russian uniforms,” the American president listed.
In this context, Joe Biden recalled the Russian invasion in 2014, which began with the appearance of “little green men”, as well as hacker attacks, which he attributed to the methods of conducting a “hybrid war”.
“This concerns the ”little green men” in uniform and cyber attacks. We must be ready to give a decisive and general response to this with the use of various tools at our disposal,” he added.
President Biden also warned that any crossing of the border of Ukraine by organized military units of the Russian Federation will be considered an invasion.
“If any mobilized Russian units cross the Ukrainian border, it will be an invasion that will be met with a tough and coordinated economic response, which I discussed in detail with our allies, and also very clearly outlined to President Putin. If Putin makes this choice, Russia will pay a big price,” the US president stressed.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that there are no “minor aggressions” and “minor victims”. His statement hinted at the words of the head of the White House that sanctions against Russia will be different depending on whether the Kremlin commits a “minor invasion” or decides on a full-scale attack.
