He was a criminal (from the point of view of a democratic state) who ordered the brutal suppression of peaceful protests in Vilnius, Tbilisi, Alma-Ata, Baku and other cities. There was no repentance, – said the Minister of Defense.
Anusauskas noted that “these are such memories, although they speak of the dead either well or in no way, but not this time.”
” The only plus is that he signed the capitulation of the Soviet Union. Ended the Cold War and destroyed the Berlin Wall? No. It was done by the peoples who aspired to freedom,” the minister added.

In Russia, the only president of the USSR, Mikhail Gorbachev, died. He was in power in 1985 – 1991 and became the last General Secretary of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
The politician was 91 years old. The relevant information about his death was reported by RosSMI, referring to the statement of the central clinical hospital.
Russian telegram channels wrote that the politician had arrived at the hospital for hemodialysis on the eve of his death.
“The former Secretary General had problems with kidneys. He was in a special department of the Central Clinical Hospital and died today (it is said on August 30 – Channel 24) in the evening,” the Russian media reported.
