Lithuania, at the request of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, banned Patriarch Kirill of the Moscow Orthodox Church from entering the country because of his support for Russia and justification for the war in Ukraine.
The clergyman was added to the list of undesirables on June 23.
This was confirmed to BNS on Wednesday at the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) of Lithuania, writes LRT.< /p>
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Patriarch Kirill is included in the list due to the fact that he deliberately denies the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, justifies and supports the aggressive actions of Russia, grossly violating the norms and principles of international law.
< p>“Patriarch Kirill, a close associate of Vladimir Putin, is one of the most active supporters of the war against Ukraine, to who has repeatedly publicly spoken positively about Russian aggression. The head of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Russian propaganda media openly calls the people of Ukraine “participants of the Nazi regime”, which should be deported or destroyed. On February 27, 2022, Patriarch Kirill blessed the Russian military participating in the war against Ukraine, and gave a canonical justification for the war that unleashed Russia,” the message says
It is worth noting that Britain imposed sanctions against the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, pro-Putin Primate Kirill and Canada.
