Now the groups of migrants are small – they consist of 3-5 people.
Lithuania announced that the Belarusian border guards introduced a new tactic of pushing migrants across the border, which significantly complicates the work of the Lithuanian side.
Delfi writes about this with reference to the head of the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service, Rustam Lyubaev.
“We noticed that the tactics have changed – Belarusian security forces push small groups of migrants into Lithuania – 3-5 people each, this complicates the process of searching for these groups, fixing and detaining them. However, these people are still detained,” – said Lubaev LRT on Monday morning.
Over the past day, 70 people tried to get from Belarus to Lithuania legal migrants. Lithuanian border guards detained them, but for humanitarian reasons they decided to let two migrants pass, Lyubaev said.
It is worth noting that since the beginning of August, border guards have acquired the right not to admit foreigners who cross the border with Belarus in prohibited places. Since then, about 7,250 refugees have not been allowed into Lithuania.
This year, more than 4,000 migrants have entered Lithuania illegally.
Recall that the G7 countries are convinced that the migration crisis in Belarus – this is just an attempt to divert the world's attention from ignoring international law. Countries expressed support for Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. The G7 stressed that the actions of the self-proclaimed President of Belarus regarding migrants will not make the international community forget about the situation that is happening in the country itself.
