Ukrainian President emphasized that the massacres, which the memorial on the embankment in Budapest reminds of, are now being repeated in Mariupol.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, addressing Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, called on the Hungarian leader not to hesitate in making decisions on sanctions when Russian invaders are engaged in massacres in Ukraine.

He spoke about this on Thursday, March 24 , in his address to the European Council.

Expressing gratitude for the support of the EU countries, Zelensky stopped when he started talking about Hungary. After a short pause, he turned to the Prime Minister of this country, Viktor Orban, with an emotional appeal to decide once and for all which side Hungary is on.

Zelensky noted that he had been to the Hungarian capital many times and visited the Holocaust memorial – the symbolic rows of shoes on the Danube embankment.

“Listen, Viktor, do you know what is happening in Mariupol? Please, if you can, go to your embankment, look at those shoes and you will see how massacres can be repeated. Russia is doing this today. The same shoes are in Mariupol. There are the same people – adults and children, and grandfathers and grandmothers. And there are thousands of them. And these there are no more thousands,” the Ukrainian president said.

Zelensky emphasized that Viktor Orban should not now doubt, but make a decision as the leader of a sovereign state.

“You hesitate whether to impose sanctions or No. Hesitating whether to let weapons through or not. Trade with Russia or not. There is no time to hesitate, it's time to decide. We believe in you, we need your support. We believe in your people, in the European Union,” the President of Ukraine stressed.< /p>
