Like in the summer of 2010: The meteorologist gave a disappointing heat forecast

The meteorologist predicted how long the heat wave will continue in Russia. As noted by Leonid Starkov, due to the anticyclone, it can be delayed for a long period of time.

“This is exactly how it all happened in the summer of 2010,” the expert said.

Meteorologist Leonid Starkov, in an interview with Izvestia, explained how long abnormally high temperatures will remain in the European part of Russia. He noted that the anticyclone impedes the change of weather, as a result of which the west-east air transport is delayed.

At the same time, forecasters are currently giving different forecasts. Some note that the temperature will drop to a “milder” 25-28 degrees Celsius next week. Others are waiting for the regeneration of the anticyclone.

At the same time, under the conditions of a powerful anticyclone, hot weather can persist for an indefinitely long period.

“This is exactly what happened in the summer of 2010. At that time, the blocking cyclone kept the heat at 30 degrees for about two months in a row,” Starkov said.

Currently, abnormally hot temperatures persist not only in the European territory of Russia, but also in Yakutia, where warming up to 33 degrees is observed. According to the forecaster, this is typical for a sharply continental climate, where the temperature range can be up to 70 degrees. But there should be no prolonged heat in the Arctic. This is fraught with risks for nature: the tundra is highly flammable, and fires spread.
