The German authorities plan to impose restrictions on social contacts for all citizens from December 28 amid the spread of the omicron strain of the coronavirus. Reported by Bild.

According to the newspaper, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will hold talks on this issue with the heads of regional administrations. If restrictions are imposed, the “easy lockdown” will become the third in the country since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bild writes that the new epidemiological measures will affect both vaccinated citizens and those who have refused vaccination and have recovered from coronavirus infection. So, the Germans will be prohibited from meeting in companies of more than ten people indoors and outdoors. In addition, all clubs and dance floors will be closed in Germany.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that European countries will introduce additional restrictions to combat the increase in the incidence and spread of the omicron strain of COVID-19 during the Christmas period. The Netherlands will be the first to announce a hard lockdown. Measures in the country include home self-isolation, closing schools, most shops, restaurants and public places, and shutting down flights to the UK.
