Vladimir Zelensky warned against delaying the process of expanding the zone of destruction of Western weapons in the Russian Federation, as well as against a “political solution” on lifting restrictions.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said that at a meeting with the heads of US and UK diplomacy on Wednesday, he presented them with a very “direct and detailed” vision of what kind of lifting of restrictions on long-range strikes against Russia Ukraine needs.
The head of state spoke about this at a press conference with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda on Thursday, reports “European Pravda”.
Zelensky said Ukraine was “very prepared, very convincing and very detailed” at the long-range weapons meeting. And the partners, according to him, “personally perceived all the details of the signals from me.”
Zelensky warned against delaying the process of expanding the zone of destruction of Western weapons in the Russian Federation, as well as against a “political decision” to lift restrictions.
“Delaying this process (on our use of the relevant weapons) leads to the fact that Russia is engaged in moving these military targets deeper into Russian territory,” Zelensky said.
According to him, “if the restrictions are lifted by the partners, then I would very much like it to be a strategy for Ukraine's victory, and not a political strategy.”
“Lifting restrictions means lifting restrictions. And if it is proposed to lift restrictions on the corresponding range to which the enemy has already used its military targets, as I said, then this is exclusively political decision to remove this pressure from partners in other countries and from Ukraine, and from journalists on the countries that must make this decision,” the president noted.
The head of state emphasized that Ukraine needs to use Western weapons in such a way as to shoot down military targets.
“If restrictions are lifted on some weapons for which there are no missiles, this is not a lifting of restrictions. This is another way of not giving a positive decision on the use of the relevant weapons,” Zelensky summed up, adding that he was “very direct” about this yesterday in a conversation with partners.
Recall that international expert, head of the NGO “Ukraine in NATO” Yuriy Romanyuk stated that The United States may allow missiles to be fired at the Russian Federation if there is a fact of using Iranian missiles at Ukraine.
