Libya denied the abduction of Russians and named the reason for their detention. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Accord (PNC) of Libya, Muhammad Siyala, RIA Novosti reports.
According to him, the Russian citizens on the boat apparently got lost and swam into Libyan waters, so the authorities arrested them. Siyala noted that he had reached an agreement with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov on deportation, and in accordance with this agreement, the Russians were sent home.
Earlier, a member of the Public Chamber of Russia, Alexander Malkevich, said that a group of Russians and one citizen of Ukraine had been released from Libyan captivity. He noted that a few weeks ago they were captured and abducted in Libya.
