LG will sell smartphones with a simplified kit. This became known from the publication on the Twitter account of the Indian division of the company.
The customer support specialist noted that the company will be selling the LG G8X smartphone in India without the included charger. “It will be possible to purchase it separately by visiting the nearest LG service center,” said a company representative. The publication also states that a simplified kit will receive a new, not a restored version of the device.
At the time of writing, LG has not specified whether the practice will extend to other brand devices and markets. Thus, LG may be next to Apple to remove the charger from the smartphone.
On October 14, Xiaomi made fun of Apple for abandoning the free charger included with the iPhone. “Don't worry, we haven't taken anything out of the box,” the Chinese company said on Twitter. The manufacturer clarified that it is not going to simplify the set of its smartphones.
After Apple's presentation on October 13, it became known that the company began selling smartphones without a charging adapter and wired headphones. Apple explained that eliminating accessories will reduce the carbon footprint of every iPhone, which will have a positive impact on the environment.
