Goal scorer Lewandowski receives the “Golden Shoe” for the most successful goal scorer in Europe.
Robert Lewandowski, the star kicker of FC Bayern Munich, will receive the “Golden Shoe” on Tuesday (2:00 pm) for Europe's most successful goalscorer in the 2020/21 season. Lewandowski is to receive the award coveted by all strikers in the FC Bayern Museum in the Allianz Arena.
In the previous Bundesliga season, the Pole scored 41 goals for the German record champions, cracking Gerd Müller's legendary 40-goal mark. The 33-year-old is receiving the award, which has been presented since 1968, for the first time in his career and succeeds Ciro Immobile from Lazio.
Lionel Messi, who won the award three times in a row ahead of Immobile, finished second with 30 goals, ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo with 29 goals. The award is given on behalf of European Sports Media. Kicker also belongs to the association of European sports magazines.
