A British politician joined the Ukrainians in the fight against the Russian aggressor.
Jack Lopresti, former deputy leader of the Conservative Party, was previously the MP for Filton and Bradley Stoke in Gloucestershire, but now he is in Kyiv, using his skills in war conditions.
The Telegraph writes about the story of the politician who joined the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The publication recalls that, as a member of parliament, Lopresti visited Ukraine and was an active supporter of providing more assistance to our state to defeat Russia. He also served in the British Army Reserve as a corporal.
Lopresti is now not involved in combat missions, but in diplomatic support, arms supplies and work with veterans.
Last November, the British ex-MP applied to join the International Legion of Ukraine.
“It is a great honor and a great privilege for me to serve in the Ukrainian army and to be able to help the valiant and amazing Ukrainian people in any way I can,” he shared.

Lopresti told reporters about his tasks in Ukraine.
“I'm a soldier. If I'm asked to do a specific task, I'll do it better. It would be very strange for me to serve in the Ukrainian army and not say that. I'm here and I'll do my best. I've always thrived in this environment, so I just try to do my best every day and be useful,” he said.
He says the career he built as a member of parliament has helped him in his work with the Defense Ministry and defense manufacturers, among other things.
After losing his mandate due to his party's defeat in the UK elections, the man decided to go to Ukraine, initially to help a charity. However, it turns out that his goal was to join the International Legion, a military unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces where volunteers who are citizens of other countries serve.

“About a year ago I said to myself: if we don't succeed in my constituency and I don't end up in parliament, I'm going to come to Ukraine. I'll do whatever I can – whether it's for charity, an NGO or volunteering,” he added.
He admitted that he had to wait to find a suitable unit for himself, in which his skills would be useful for the Ukrainians in the fight against the Russian Federation.
“Seeing how much pressure they were feeling and how difficult the conflict was, I thought I'd probably end up in the army,” the Briton recalled.
According to him, the Ukrainians are fighting not only for their freedom, as well as for Europe and the rest of the free world. He is sure that Russia now poses a threat to everyone, so Ukraine needs help.
Lopresti has a wife and four children in the UK who are waiting for him to return home.
