Lebanon was again left without a prime minister – Mustafa Adib, who took office on August 31, announced his refusal to form a government and his resignation. Al Arabiya reported.
It is noted that the politician made such a decision due to the political deadlock around the formation of a new cabinet of ministers. Adeeb apologized for the factions' failure to reach an agreement, adding that Lebanon needs to abide by French initiatives to stabilize the situation.
Adib had to form a new government, after which he intended to carry out reforms. Prior to that, he was ambassador to Germany for seven years.
The previous government resigned on 10 August. This happened after the protests of the population, which did not stop for several days. Citizens took to the streets and demanded a change of the Cabinet, as they considered his incompetence as the cause of the explosion in the port of Beirut, as well as because of the accumulated social and economic problems.
The explosion in the port of Beirut thundered on August 4, exploded for a long time, stored in the warehouse of 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate. 180 people were killed, thousands of people were injured, thousands of houses were destroyed.
