The Lebanese court wanted to arrest the owner and captain of the ship Rhosus, on board which was ammonium nitrate, which caused an explosion in the port of Beirut. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing sources from AFP.

According to sources, judge Fadi Sauan, leading the case of the explosion, issued two arrest warrants in absentia for the owner, and one for the arrest of the captain. The interlocutors of the agency explained that Sauan reported their names to the prosecutor's office, which transferred them to Interpol and asked for an international arrest warrant.

In August, the former captain of the Rhosus ship Boris Prokoshev named versions of the explosion in the port of Lebanese Beirut. Prokoshev explained that the substance itself could not explode. When asked whether saltpeter could lose its properties in almost six years, the source said that it was stored hermetically and air did not enter the package.

At the same time, it became known about the detention of the Russian Igor Grechushkin, who previously owned the ship. It was emphasized that the Russian was not arrested, but simply “asked him a few questions.”

The explosion in the port of Beirut thundered on 4 August. Because of the fire, the 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate stored in the warehouse for a long time exploded. About 190 people were killed, more than six thousand people were injured, thousands of houses were destroyed.
