Dialogue and cooperation are the only right choice for China and the United States, noted Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning.
The meeting between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden , held in San Francisco on Wednesday, November 15, will become a new starting point in relations between Beijing and Washington.
Chinese Foreign Ministry representative Mao Ning stated this at a briefing, Ukrinform reports.
Commenting on the summit between the two leaders, the diplomat noted that during the talks, Xi detailed China's vision of ways to improve and stabilize relations with the United States, noted the importance of cooperation and indicated areas in which the two countries can successfully cooperate.
“China and the United States have common interests in a wide range of areas, including traditional ones such as economics, trade and agriculture, as well as new ones such as climate change and artificial intelligence,” Mao said.
According to Mao Ning, agreements between the leaders of China and the United States to promote people-to-people exchanges will be important to improving bilateral relations.
“Both leaders agreed to commit to working towards a significant increase in the number of scheduled passenger flights from the beginning of next year, expanding educational, student, youth, cultural and sports and business exchanges,” the diplomat added.
Summing up, the speaker said that both sides need to begin to build interaction in a new way based on the consensus reached in San Francisco and promote bilateral relations in the direction of stable and sustainable development.
“Dialogue and cooperation are the only right choice for China and the United States… The meeting in San Francisco has strategic and profound significance and will be a new starting point for the healthy, stable and sustainable development of China-US relations,” Mao said.
