Moscow. October 21. INTERFAX.RU – Lawyer Ivan Pavlov filed a lawsuit against the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation and Roskomnadzor due to the blocking of the website of the human rights association “Team 29”, which he headed.
“The plaintiff asks to declare illegal the decision to take measures to restrict access to the information resource http://team29.org and to restrict access to the resource,” the press service of the Tverskoy Court of Moscow told Interfax on Thursday. The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and Roskomnadzor were declared defendants in the administrative claim.
The decision to accept the claim for production has not yet been made, it was thinned out in court.
Roskomnadzor on July 16, at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office, blocked the site of “Team 29”.
The regulator stated that “the site functioned within the framework of the activities of the international non-governmental organization Spolecnost Svobody Informace, ZS, included by the Ministry of Justice of Russia in the list of foreign and international non-governmental organizations, whose activities are recognized as undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation.”
Later, “Team 29” announced its self-dissolution and termination of activities.
“The association no longer exists, but this does not mean that my former colleagues and I have come to terms with the fact that access to it was closed for far-fetched reasons,” Pavlov said.
Team 29 was created seven years ago. The attorneys and lawyers that were part of the association specialize in matters related to state secrecy and security. In particular, they defended and are defending the journalist accused of treason, adviser to the head of Roscosmos Ivan Safronov, and Karina Turcan, the former top manager of Inter RAO, who was convicted of espionage. They also represented organizations recognized as banned in the Russian Federation and liquidated as extremist organizations founded by opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
In 2021, the head of Team 29, lawyer Pavlov, became a defendant in a criminal case on the disclosure of data from a preliminary investigation and went abroad.
